Our Story
Making Ice Cream for Joe
When we started milking our sheep, we had a friend living with us named Joe. Joe couldn’t drink cow's milk, he was extremely lactose intolerant. Unfortunately, this also meant that Joe couldn’t have ice cream. And Joe loved ice cream. We had read that many lactose intolerant people could drink sheep’s milk. So we convinced Joe to try some, and guess what – he was able to drink it without any issues.
Then one day Joe approached me. Joe said he really wanted to eat ice cream, but it just "tore him up" because of his lactose intolerance. He asked if I could make ice cream for him from the sheep's milk. I said, sure, I would try. So after some experimenting with recipes, I came up with one that worked. Joe tried it... and he didn't have any issues with it! Joe was ecstatic, and we made a lot of ice cream for Joe that summer.
That is when we decided we had to start making ice cream. From the beginning we have been determined to make ice cream using all natural ingredients, no preservatives, and of course, our amazing sheep's milk. We have developed a number of really neat flavors including Apple Cinnamon, Peach, Blueberry, Blackberry (to name a few). We only use natural ingredients like fresh peaches in our peach ice cream, or regionally sourced apples in our Apple cinnamon ice cream.
Building A Creamery
We are currently in the process of building a creamery. We have a group of investors supporting us, we have purchased the equipment, and site work has begun on septic design, and utilities expansion. Our creamery building is being built by Don's Dairy Supply. Our goal is to have inspections complete and full scale production by January 1, 2026. Our new facility will provide us with production capacity of up to 50 gallons of ice cream per day!
